If you’ve ever been to a murder mystery event, you’ll know one thing for certain: everyone approaches the investigation differently.
Some guests arrive armed with notebooks and highlighters. Others are simply there for the cocktails. And then there are those who somehow solve the entire mystery without saying more than five words all evening.
At Foxtrot Productions, we’ve hosted numerous of immersive murder mystery experiences across the UK, and we’ve seen every personality imaginable. No matter whether you’re joining us for a corporate team-building event, a birthday celebration, or a private murder mystery party, you’ll probably recognise at least one of these…
Maybe you’ll even recognise yourself.
the detective
This person means business.
They’re taking notes from the very first clue, keeping timelines, spotting inconsistencies and questioning absolutely everyone.
Nothing escapes them.
They’ve already ruled out two suspects before the starter arrives and are quietly convinced everyone else is missing something obvious.

the method actor
They didn’t come to play. They came to become their character.
They’ve turned up in full costume, created an elaborate backstory and refuse to answer to their real name for the entire evening.
Whether they’re a suspicious aristocrat, an eccentric scientist or a glamorous socialite, they’re completely committed.
Honestly, we love to see it.
the wild accuser
Everyone is suspicious. Absolutely everyone.
Five minutes into the investigation they’ve accused the host, three teammates, two innocent witnesses and possibly themselves.
Evidence? Optional.
Confidence? Buckets of it.
Nailed it? Not even close, but they did keep everyone thoroughly entertained.

the team captain
Every team needs one.
They’re organising everyone’s ideas, making sure clues don’t get lost, assigning tasks and writing down the final answers.
Without them, the rest of the team would still be debating whether Colonel Mustard had an alibi.
They’re the glue holding the investigation together.
the chaos gremlin
They mainly came for the night out.
The murder itself is low on their list of priorities.
They’re enjoying the cocktails, chatting with suspects and occasionally shouting completely unhelpful theories across the room.
When someone says, “Please stop shouting at the heiress,” everyone immediately knows who they’re talking about.
And you better believe they’re having the best night of anyone.

the quiet genius
You barely notice them.
They don’t interrupt. They don’t argue. They simply observe everything around them.
Then, just before the final reveal, they calmly explain exactly who did it, how they did it and why.
They are almost always right.
Almost…
the comic relief
Their theories are outrageous, their timing is impeccable, and they’re constantly trying to make the actors break character.
And while their accusations are spectacularly wrong, they somehow become everyone’s favourite teammate.
Every murder mystery needs someone who keeps the laughs coming.
After all, solving a murder is serious business, but having fun is the whole point.

So which one are you?
Every group has a mixture of detectives, actors, organisers, comedians and wonderfully chaotic teammates.
That’s what makes every murder mystery experience completely unique.
Whether you’re fiercely competitive or simply looking for an unforgettable evening with friends or colleagues, there’s a role for everyone.
At Foxtrot Productions, we create immersive murder mystery events across the UK for corporate team building, private parties, Christmas celebrations and special occasions. Every event is packed with intrigue, laughter and plenty of unexpected twists.
So the only question left is…
Which one are you?
